Secretariat 2018

Secretary General

Julia Müller

Julia is a mid-20 postgraduate in human geography and currently based in Cologne, Germany. However, usually, she can be found all over Europe. She started her MUN-career during her Erasmus term in Poland back in 2015. Ever since she participated in various conferences both as a delegate and chair from Hamburg, Munich, Bonn to Belgrade, York and Jerusalem. When she is not doing MUN, Julia works as a freelancer in international development cooperation, enjoys travelling, and making ridiculously elaborate cakes. Julia is avidly looking forward to shaping and representing IsarMUN 2018 as Secretary General.

Deputy Secretary General

Malte Westphal

Malte Westphal is currently pursuing a master degree in computer science and management at the University of Hamburg, and is currently writing his thesis with a big german company. He has always been very interested in international politics, and attended his first MUN in 2014 in Israel. Ever since he developed a habit to use MUNs as an excuse to travel to places in Europe where he wouldn’t go otherwise – from Cork over Lviv to Tbilisi. During his time in MUN, he held almost every position imaginable from Delegate to Secretary General, with his favourite position however is chairing the European Council. As Deputy Secretary General he is looking forward to work for an successful and delegate-oriented IsarMUN 2018.

Under-Secretary General for Academics

Samuel Körner

Samuel works at a four-star hotel in the historic center of Bruges, which he will next year combine with studies in Criminological Sciences at the University of Ghent. Just like most of the other members of the secretariat, Samuel attended IsarMUN 2017. Furthermore he enjoys travelling, good cuisine and is a coffee addict. Samuel is looking forward to meeting all of you (again) in München this November!

Under-Secretary General for Academics

Atakan Yurdakul

Atakan is currently studying at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom and has always been interested in history, alongside with international relations and politics.

Starting his MUN career two-and-a-half years ago, he has since gathered more than 30 experiences around the globe; mostly being in the crisis team, as a USG and a committee director, the rest being a delegate (sad times).

Atakan really enjoys historical debates and being a part of crisis-based simulations in conferences. Alongside with being a fellow enthusiast of hot wine, debating and travelling are some of his favourite pastimes. He admits that his sock collection is also an achievement he is quite proud of.

As the USG for Academics, he is dedicated to contributing everything he can to the conference and expecting to get to know high-quality delegates with unique ideas and looking forward to meeting you all.

Under-Secretary General for Academics

Daryl Tiglao

Daryl Tiglao is a 22 year old student from Edinburgh in the UK, who is finishing up his Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. He graduated last year with a degree in law at the University of Edinburgh.

His Model UN career began in 2014 at St Andrews, representing Poland in the European Commission – because he forgot to sign up in first year. Ever since then, he has attended more than 20 conferences, and has chaired a few of them. These conferences have taken him to various parts of the UK, Ireland and continental Europe, which is one of the reasons he enjoys taking part in these conferences. Another is all the people he has met along the way. While unfortunately not having attended IsarMUN before, he nonetheless is looking forward to this year’s edition as a USG for Academics.

Outside of the world of Model UN, job hunting and (not really) studying, Daryl likes to play games and keep up to date with current affairs at home and abroad.

Under-Secretary General for Academics

Abdelrahim Abdallah

Abdelrahim (more commonly known as Rimo) is an 18-year-old graduate of Europa-Schule Kairo, a German school abroad (Deutsche Auslandsschule). He was born and raised in Egypt and grew up in a family with a focus on international exposure and with very strong ties to Germany. As a student of Europa-Schule Kairo, Abdelrahim loved being engaged in the decision making as a member of the Student Union and later as the President of the Student Union. In 2011, the Egyptian Revolution inspired him to become politically active, participating in numerous MUN conferences in Europe, Asia and Africa. In 2016, he partnered up with another schoolmate to start an MUN conference in his school with participants from all around the Middle East. Under his leadership as Secretary-General, ESKMUN 2018 hosted the first German-speaking council in the region and raised the bar for other Egyptian MUNs. In IsarMUN 2018, Abdelrahim is looking forward to bringing his MUN experience gained from a different country and a different environment as well as learning from delegates and chairs from diverse backgrounds.
